2003
A pretty good year, when you look back. CD's were selling well (you could even still get vinyl) and there was a buoyancy in both the music and the amount of releases that were coming out.
Neo-fullon was where it's at: Melicia's single Experience was everywhere, as was material from Silicon Sound, Astrix's Eye To Eye... even Transient got in on the Neo bandwagon, and who could forget Natural Waves Of Sound from the then-very-promising Compact?
Samothraki happened for the last time, characterised by the presence of pigs and of 1200 mics' Acid For Nothing. Ott released Blumenkraft and changed chillout forever. Infected's Converting Vegetarians started schisming their fans (whatever); and with Ticon's Aero sitting alongside Vibrasphere's Lime Structure, your prog shelf looked - and sounded - healthy. You could even fill it with releases from Spiral Trax. Sniff.
Meanwhile, Psyreviews disappeared for six months, as "happens" -- this time the mail server went bellyup bigstyle.
The marks, out of five, were as-they-were-given-when-they-came-out. Funny how tastes, and expectations, change...
