Bullet Proof

Blue Monday / Tainted Love (12”)

We Speak Alien (UK?)

Very cheeky release this one. Bullet Proof is the alter ego of a well-known psy artist evidently sensing the current appeal of cover versions (love em or hate em) with this shifty vinyl-only release. The Blue Monday take is much more direct, and a fair bit more bangin’, than Cosmosis & Mindfield’s recent Re-Order, with less psychedelia in its twist and a more lawyer-baiting buzz. Tainted Love is again, more of a direct cover than the “borrowing” done by the equally-mysterious Save The Robot with Painted Dove off Imagi:Nations Night. As cheeky moments in paytrance go, this has to be one of the cheekiest – a CD release would have done more to ensure it gets played at the festivals this summer (and believe me, it will) and with its presence on vinyl you can’t help but think there must be quite a crossover market here, though I’m not too sure what it is. As long as people keep dancing to covers, then covers there shall be – and this, as possibly the only release on We Speak Alien, certainly looks like being a collectable one.
